Operations Manager

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the production process within a food manufacturing facility. This role ensures the implementation of effective processes and systems to achieve safety, quality, production, and cost objectives. Key responsibilities include driving operational excellence, maintaining regulatory compliance, optimizing labor and inventory, and leading team development. The Operations Manager plays a critical role in ensuring product quality, food safety, and continuous improvement across all manufacturing operations.

What You’ll Do:

· Lead and develop teams to maximize performance, efficiency, service levels, and workplace safety.

· Ensure all products meet established quality standards and specifications.

· Establish, implement, and enforce policies and procedures, including compliance with regulatory requirements (USDA, FDA), HACCP, and GMPs.

· Ensure accurate and timely completion of all QA and production documentation.

· Develop and manage weekly production schedules aligned with sales forecasts.

· Allocate production labor effectively to meet operational and productivity targets.

· Implement systems to monitor incoming raw material quality and ensure supplier compliance with company standards.

· Drive continuous improvement initiatives through analysis of production metrics and performance data.

· Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, including energy conservation programs.

· Collaborate cross-functionally with Maintenance, Procurement, R&D, Sales, and Marketing to support operational improvements and growth initiatives.

· Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for existing and new products.

· Drive cost reduction initiatives and improve product yield and operational efficiency.

· Coach and develop front-line supervisors and team members to resolve operational challenges and achieve performance goals.

· Monitor equipment performance, reliability, and maintenance of company assets.

· Other duties as assigned or necessary

 

What You’ll Need:

· Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a food manufacturing environment, preferably producing sauces, starches, or fully cooked proteins.

· Proven experience collaborating cross-functionally with Quality Assurance, Operations, Maintenance, Materials, and Procurement teams.

· HACCP certification required.

· Strong leadership, coaching, facilitation, presentation, and team-building skills.

· Demonstrated ability to implement and sustain process improvements and operational controls.

Maintenance Technician II, Mid-Weekend

This position operates in a food manufacturing facility where exposure to noise, temperature changes, wet floors, and moving mechanical parts may occur. All work must be performed in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and company food safety standards.

The shift for this position is Wednesday-Sunday, 4:00pm- 12:30am with overtime or weekends as needed.

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) and basic repairs on production, packaging, and facility equipment.

  • Assist in troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues on food processing and packaging equipment.

  • Replace and adjust belts, bearings, seals, motors, and other basic mechanical components as directed.

  • Follow all company safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Hazard Communication (HazCom), and Cal/OSHA requirements.

  • Maintain accurate and timely maintenance records, work orders, and parts usage documentation.

  • Clean, lubricate, and inspect machinery in accordance with preventive maintenance schedules.

  • Support production teams during line changeovers, startups, and equipment setups.

  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, near misses, or equipment malfunctions to supervision.

  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.

  • Other duties as assigned and necessary.

What You’ll Need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • 0–2 years of maintenance experience, preferably in a food or beverage manufacturing environment.

  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and safe maintenance practices.

  • Ability to read and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and safety guidelines.

  • Basic computer literacy for completing work orders and maintenance logs.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds regularly.

Material Planner

The Material Planner will be responsible for managing raw material & packaging inventory and ensure material availability is consistent with factory production schedules/requirements. Further responsibilities include managing supplier relationships, using ERP systems to manage purchase orders and on-time delivery, participation in continuous improvement programs, coordinating with internal departments, and managing stakeholder relations. What You’ll Do:

· Manage and maintain purchase orders for direct sourced raw materials and packaging using MRP/SAP based systems or processes.

· Work with suppliers on a daily basis and manage Supplier Delivery Performance (On Time In Full) KPIs - Need to be extremely proactive with a high sense of urgency on supplier follow ups for purchase order delivery dates and ordered quantities, this also involves tracking shipments via ASNs (Advanced Shipping Notices) for ground and ocean freight to ensure it is delivered and received on time at the right warehouse.

· Support factory operations and production team, buyers and purchasing activities, mitigate supply issues and inventory replenishment/replacement due to inventory adjustments or non-conforming material, establish root cause and corrective action.

· Manages dynamic forecasts and manages replenishment planning for materials to ensure specified customer service levels are met.

· Communicate daily issues, including specification changes, deviations, late deliveries, etc. with factory production team and category buyers.

· Manage Supplier Lead Times, MOQs and Transit times.

· Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish, develop and maintain healthy working relationships with suppliers, internal cross functional teams, and peers.

· Organizes the internal flow of materials within the manufacturing unit/factory and the transferring of materials to and from the inventory or warehouse.

· Expedite raw materials and packaging materials from approved suppliers as needed with consideration for cost and value.

· Escalate challenging supply issues to category buyers and related stakeholders in a timely manner after exhaustion of efforts.

· Participate and implement continuous improvement programs to reduce improve quality, lead-time, and reduce costs.

· Participate in continuous improvement programs and activities, develop and implement cost-saving strategies without compromising quality or service.

· Extensive experience in Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

· Extensive experience in Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations, issues, and considerations for systematically managing distribution of inventory for multiple plants or warehouses; ability to apply related knowledge and experience in real practice

What You’ll Need:

· Bachelor’s degree in business related field or similar.

· Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in material planning or scheduling, inventory management and working with vendors/suppliers.

· Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems: Specifically using SAP/MRP systems or alternative system to manage inventory, knowledge of the process, must be able to comfortably navigate and execute in the commonly used screens or environments.

· Great communication and conflict management skills is a must as this is a very dynamic, fast paced supply chain environment that may occasionally be of high stress.

Quality Assurance Technician, 1st Shift

The Quality Technician is responsible for the administration of Quality Assurance functions as they relate to raw material and finished product testing to achieve customer product specifications and to adhere to all SOP and SSOP as per the Kevin’s Natural Foods standards. The Quality technicians follow through on set processes such as good manufacturing practices (GMP), food safety, Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards and product quality standards.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Responsible for monitoring, and programing critical control points (CCP), product food safety and quality throughout the manufacturing process.  

  • Responsible for performing sanitation verification and allergen testing on equipment and other areas required.  

  • Responsible for the correct recording and filing of all relevant record logs and documentation.  

  • Ensures the correct recipe guidelines for products are met during processing.  

  • Work closely with production staff to maintain and education in the areas of sanitation, hygiene, GMP’s and other food safety guidelines. 

  • Responsible to issue disciplinary action when directed.  

  • Collect product samples for product development, lab retains, and the laboratory when directed.  

  • Perform inspections on products, equipment, and machinery.

What You’ll Need: 

  • 1-3 years’ experience in a food processing environment. 

  • 2+ years’ experience in a meat or poultry processing environment preferred. 

  • Bachelor of Science Degree or Diploma in Microbiology or food science 

  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMP’s, allergens, and food defense  

  • HACCP Certification. 

  • Proficient computer skills and Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, and Excel)

Maintenance Technician I, AM Shift

The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for performing basic maintenance, repair, and preventive tasks to ensure the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of production equipment and facilities in a food manufacturing environment. This is an entry-level position working under direct supervision and providing support to senior technicians and the Maintenance Manager.

Maintenance Technician II, PM Weekends

This position operates in a food manufacturing facility where exposure to noise, temperature changes, wet floors, and moving mechanical parts may occur. All work must be performed in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and company food safety standards.

·       Collaborate with Operations, Sanitation and leadership to drive ownership of food safety, quality, and culinary standards on the production floor

·       Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure quality and culinary standards are integrated into the entire production process

Maintenance Technician I, PM Shift

The Maintenance Technician I, PM Shift is responsible for performing basic maintenance, repair, and preventive tasks to ensure the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of production equipment and facilities in a food manufacturing environment. Kevin’s will play a key role in Mars Food & Nutrition’s ongoing journey to enable delicious, healthier eating to be part of consumers’ daily lives, while Mars will help Kevin’s to continue to grow, innovate, and bring its portfolio of products to more people.

 

The pay rate for this position is $22.00/hour - $25.00/hour. This role is eligible for overtime.
